According to Ramashray Yadav, Station House Officer of Civil Lines, the crackdown follows a formal complaint filed by RK Shukla, Secretary of the Uttar Pradesh Bar Council.
Shukla's complaint named 105 advocates suspected of using fraudulent academic documents to obtain their COPs — credentials that allowed them to practice law despite the alleged forgery.
Yadav confirmed that while 39 FIRs have already been registered, cases against the remaining advocates named in the complaint are expected to be filed within the next couple of days.
The Kashyap CaseOne of the first FIRs, filed Friday, targets Deepak Kashyap, an advocate from Saharanpur.
The university's response indicated that the mark sheet photocopy did not match its official records and appeared to be fabricated.
