The children, residents of Janamedi, Bahubali Colony and the Housing Board area, were on their way to school when the accident occurred. A team from Raja Talab police station reached the scene and shifted all the injured children to the District Hospital with the help of local residents. Hospital officials said several injured students are being treated in the emergency ward, with the condition of some reported to be critical. Among those seriously injured is Ranjan Nema, son of Rudra Nema and a resident of the Housing Board colony. The arrival of several injured children at once triggered scenes of panic at the District Hospital.
