A recent study found that implementing digital adherence technologies (DATs) can effectively quadruple clinical follow-up efficiency for India’s 2.8 million annual tuberculosis cases.
Addressing this, Madhuvarshne Sivashanmugam and Rajalakshmi Mahendran from the Department of Community Medicine at Sri Manakula Vinayagar Medical College and Hospital conducted the research to investigate the barriers and potential solutions for digital monitoring adoption among patients and providers in Puducherry.
The Key Clinical Findings of the Study Include:Enhanced Efficiency: The study credited Digital Adherence Technologies with enabling health workers to follow up with four patients via telephone in the time usually required for a single physical home visit.
The study concludes that clinicians should consider integrating more adaptable digital monitoring protocols that emphasize patient-centered communication and simplified hardware interfaces to ensure that diverse populations can successfully navigate the complexities of long-term treatment.
