Ipswich Borough Council have said they were "grateful" to the fire service "for their prompt response" after the fire in Chantry Park on Sunday, August 9. Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service were called at 2.02pm to a fire in a wooded area on the London Road side of Chantry Park, near the Robin Road junction, opposite Park View Care Home. Firefighters used hose reels and beaters to bring it under control and prevent it from spreading further and no injuries were reported. Cllr Stefan Long, Portfolio Holder for Environment and Sport said: "We are grateful to the Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service for their prompt response to the fire in Chantry Park yesterday. “We encourage everyone to take extra care and help reduce the risk of fires by disposing of litter responsibly and avoiding any activities that could ignite dry grass and vegetation.”
