Jon Armstrong on the road/ gravel to victory in the Grampian Forest Rally. Fermanagh’s Jon Armstrong believes that local rally fans are “in for a real treat” when the World Rally Championship (WRC) makes its long-awaited comeback to the UK next year. His comments came after his first gravel victory alongside Shane Byrne on last weekend’s Grampian Forest Rally – the FIA’s candidate event for Rally Scotland. “When the World Rally Championship arrives here, we are going to be for a real treat,” said Armstrong, “especially as the stages will be much longer, so yeah, we cannot wait for it to happen. Returning to Rally2 machinery for the first time since consecutive wins on Rali Ceredigion and Croatia Rally last year, Armstrong marked the occasion with a 9.3 second triumph.
