Despite heavy rainfall at the start of the year, SWW announced a temporary ban from midnight on Saturday (August 8) to help protect water supplies during the current drought conditions. Mr George – the Liberal Democrat MP for West Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly – said today (Monday, August 10): “South West Water seems only to have built a reservoir of doubt and scepticism. “Our teams have been working tirelessly to protect supplies for customers. “Introducing a hosepipe ban is never a decision we take lightly, and we fully appreciate the inconvenience it will cause. “Every litre saved now will help protect our rivers and water resources while drought conditions continue.
