Stretch of A14 to close for urgent works

Essential resurfacing will take place on the eastbound carriageway between junctions 55 and 56 for Copdock and Wherstead on Friday, August 14.
It will be closed from 8pm until 6am on Saturday, August 15 so engineers can carry out work safely.
National Highways said the closure will be weather permitting and access will be maintained for emergency vehicles.
A diversion will be in place, taking drivers off the A14 at junction 55 and onto the A1214 ring road through Ipswich, then onto the A12 at Martlesham to rejoin the A14 at junction 58.
The diversion route is long as it has to follow main roads for larger vehicles, like HGVS, which may not be able to use alternative routes.
