Hyderabad: With the deadline for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process to be end on August 3, community elders have appealed to Non-Resident Indian (NRI) families in Telangana to complete all SIR formalities without delay, stressing that inclusion in the electoral rolls is vital for maintaining citizenship-related records. Highlighting the urgency of the SIR exercise, Canada-based NRI Syed Ahmed Ziauddin said that despite months of awareness campaigns, only 53 per cent of eligible people, particularly from the Muslim community, have completed the process. Ziauddin appealed to families of NRIs, particularly those with relatives working in Gulf countries, to ensure that SIR formalities are completed on time. He added that not all NRIs are financially well-off and urged community members to assist families unfamiliar with the SIR process. Moid said the FRC would serve as a valid document for electoral roll inclusion under the SIR exercise.
