Some participants built stories of resilienceSeveral participants described moving from secrecy, shame, or struggle toward greater acceptance, purpose or connection. The authors argue that clinicians should therefore move beyond viewing every person who experiences attraction to children exclusively through a risk framework. It means avoiding the assumption that attraction alone establishes offending behavior or inevitable future abuse. Only six people participated, and recruitment occurred through an online organization serving individuals with self-reported sexual attraction to minors.
