The blaze broke out near Bolton's Bench, one of the New Forest's best known landmarks, just before 12.32pm today. The area is near Lyndhurst fire station but the blaze is being tackled by full-time crews from two Southampton fire stations. A Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "At 12.32 today crews from Redbridge and St Mary’s fire stations were called to deal with a fire in the open at Bolton’s Bench in Lyndhurst. A witness said: "It's an area of scrubland that's a long way off the beaten track in a fairly inaccessible location. Bolton's Bench is a small hill with a yew tree and a bench at the top.
