Police were called to St Nicholas Road at 7.12am on Monday after a man was seen shouting and being verbally abusive. Fire crews were also called nearby to the junction of Nelson Road Central and Regent Road after officers noticed a bin fire when they were attending the disturbance. He was arrested on suspicion of a Section 5 public order offence, a Section 4 racially aggravated public order offence and breaching a community behaviour order. He was taken to Great Yarmouth Police Investigation Centre for questioning, where he remains.
