Bacup man admits attempted robbery at off-licence

Michael Valle Jones, 38, of Edward Street, appeared before Burnley Crown Court, charged with one count of attempted robbery and one count of possessing a knife blade or sharp-pointed article in a public place, namely an axe.
The charges relate to an incident on July 10 at the One Stop in King Street.
He entered a guilty plea to the first count but denied possessing the weapon.
A sentencing date has been set for November 12 and the defendant has been remanded in custody.
