The claims followed the administration of bathroom retailer Victoria Plum in September 2023. However, AHK Designs said it had not taken over Transvalair’s delivery contract and that the workers remained employed by Transvalair. He returned from sick leave on October 3, 2023, only to be told he was being laid off because Victoria Plum had entered administration. The tribunal awarded him £6,666.52, including redundancy and notice pay, compensation for unfair dismissal and a 25% uplift. Mr Lankester, employed from August 2021 as a driver and porter at the Ipswich hub, also carried out most of his work on the Victoria Plum contract.
