They include night owls, remote workers, and time buyers. Night owls also scored better than everyone on blood pressure despite some coverage claiming the opposite (Carefoot, 2026). Although the common recommendation makes sense for remote workers to avoid social isolation, remotable workers had higher mental-health scores than nonremotable workers before the pandemic. I empathize with correlational researchers and science journalists who want to say more. And I’m not promoting staying up late or being a loner—criticisms or concerns toward at least some night owls and remote workers may be warranted.
