Powell's Plaice will officially be opened on Tuesday, August 11 at 4.30 pm by local councillor David Saunby.
The shop, run by the Powell family – Mel, Tom, and children Evelyn (11), Jowan (9) and Rosenwyn (3) – has taken over the former Acacia Fish Shop on Old Hill, where the family uncovered the premises' original signage during renovations.
Mel is no stranger to the trade, having spent more than 20 years frying at The Gem Fish Bar on Quarry Hill, where her cooking earned a loyal following of returning customers.
Born and raised in Falmouth, the Powells say they feel "privileged to call this town our home" and hope Powell's Plaice will become a friendly hub for the local community as well as a stop for visitors from Falmouth and Penryn.
The Powell family say they were "beyond excited" to be cooking for the people of Old Hill and beyond on Tuesday night and cannot wait to start frying.
