The strategy aims to protect and celebrate the area’s rich heritage, from Christchurch Priory and Highcliffe Castle to Bournemouth’s Victorian history as a wellness destination and Poole’s maritime heritage.
Andy Martin, portfolio holder for customer, communications and culture at BCP Council, said: “Our heritage and culture is all around us.
“This strategy sets out how we can work together to celebrate, protect and strengthen our heritage while ensuring it continues to support community wellbeing, learning, pride in place and economic prosperity.
The strategy also aims to reduce the number of heritage assets considered at risk.
It takes a whole-place approach, recognising the diverse range of heritage assets across the area, including the coastline, conservation areas, listed buildings, parks, museums, cultural institutions and community heritage projects.
