Just last year, the LA-based indie rock minimalist Lael Neale released her album Altogether Stranger on Sub Pop. Lead single "Slip Away" is a haunted, sophisticated garage rock jam that sits on some grand cosmic continuum between Stereolab and the Ramones. Neale recorded As Killers Do on a Tascam eight-track machine in her Echo Park kitchen. "Slip Away" has Neale on Omnichord and Blakeslee on guitar, and Chris Coady mastered it. The "Slip Away" video is a hand-animated montage of Neale's black-and-white paintings.
