Michelle Farnworth, 37, appeared at Preston Crown Court on Wednesday, August 5 to be sentenced for one count of bring/throw/convey a list ‘A’ prohibited article into/out of a prison. The charge states that Farnworth conveyed pregabalin, a medicine used to treat nerve pain, epilepsy, or anxiety, into or out of the prison on November 22 last year. Farnworth, of Samuel Street, Atherton, was previously given a conditional discharge for 12 months for a further offence of conveying a list ‘C’ article into a prison intending it to go to a prisoner, namely 29.9g of nicotine. For the pregabalin offence, she was given a 12-month community order and ordered to pay a fine of £5, which must be paid in full within 28 days. She was also ordered to complete 20 rehabilitation days.
