Organisations including the Friends of the Gumstool Brook, a group devoted to protecting and improving Cirencester's waterways, participated in the launch and inaugural meeting of the Cirencester and Churn Waterways and Environment Partnership. CCWEP’s launch and inaugural meeting was co-hosted by the Friends of the Gumstool Brook along with Cirencester Town Council, Cirencester Community Development Trust and The Kate Winstone Trust. The aim is that CCWEP will benefit Cirencester’s waterways, water and infrastructure management and environment. There are currently 34 participating membership organisations in CCWEP, with bodies involved including the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs, the Environment Agency, Thames Water, Severn Trent and the National Trust. Gratitude was expressed for the work of citizen scientists from the area, who have been gathering monthly data on waterways and wildlife.
