Katherine Waldron, also known as Katherine Spain, appeared at Preston Crown Court last week, where she entered guilty pleas to two counts of fraud by false representation, one count of making/supplying an article for use in fraud, and one count of engaging in controlling/coercive behaviour. The charges state Waldron, 33, formerly of Burnley but now of Kings Road, Harrogate, falsified medical conditions in order to obtain money via charitable donations. They further say she possessed a fraudulent degree certificate, and caused her husband to pay for treatment for these medical conditions - part of the controlling and coercive behaviour charge. A trial which was due to take place at York Crown Court was vacated, and a sentencing date has now been set for December 9 at Preston Crown Court. She was bailed until that date.
