Mercedes driver fined thousands after reaching speeds of over 100mph on motorway

Richard Jones, 36, was snapped by a speed camera while driving at 107mph in his grey Mercedes A180 D Sport on the M5 southbound between Junction 21 and Junction 22 in Somerset, on November 16, 2025.
At Bristol Magistrates’ Court on May 19, 2026, Jones admitted to the offence, but did not learn his sentence until a hearing at the same court on Monday, August 3.

He was also ordered to pay £85 in costs to CPS and £554 in surcharge, bringing his total to £2023.
