Authorities are investigating after a burglary suspect was hit by the unoccupied vehicle of a Minnetonka police officer on Monday morning. The Minnetonka Police Department said that at 9:20 a.m. near the 3700 block of Chicago Avenue South in Minneapolis, one of their officers was chasing a burglary suspect on foot. Police said the officer was working in Minneapolis as part of the Hennepin County Auto Theft Task Force. After detaining the man, the “unoccupied officer’s vehicle struck the suspect,” and he sustained non-life-threatening injuries, according to Minnetonka police. When asked to clarify how the officer’s vehicle was moving while unoccupied, the BCA said that their “agents will be looking at all of the circumstance’s that make up this incident.”
