City of York Council said it served Travellers the warning to leave Chesney Fields in Foxwood Lane on Monday (August 10). The community has until Wednesday (August 12) to leave, the council said. Westfield Ward councillor Andrew Waller said this had been followed by a visit to the site by North Yorkshire Police. “Chesney Fields is used for recreation, and the football team needs to use it.” It comes after a previous unauthorised occupation of the site by Travellers in May this year, April 2025 and July 2024.
