The collision, involving a car and a van, took place on the N3 at Drummallagh, between Virginia and Cavan, just before 2pm. He is the father of current Donegal player Eoin McHugh. Sinn Fein TD Pearse Doherty said that it was “heartbreaking news” to hear that the “Donegal GAA great” had lost his life. “James gave so much to Donegal GAA and will be remembered with great pride and affection across the county and beyond,” he said.
