Emergency services were called to Western Esplanade at around 3.44pm after the man fell and suffered serious injuries. Despite the efforts of emergency services, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. This comes after police cordoned off a large part of the Marlands car park last night. Marlands Shopping Centre is one of Southampton city centre’s main shopping destinations, with a range of shops, restaurants and other facilities serving residents and visitors. Officers are continuing to establish the circumstances leading up to the man’s death, with the coroner expected to consider the circumstances as part of the investigation.
