A procurator fiscal depute told the court that police witnesses were on mobile patrol in the Hope Street area of Greenock, moving towards Lynedoch Street. The procurator fiscal depute said when police witnesses turned the car towards Lynedoch Street and Lyle Street, they observed the accused riding the motorcycle then coming to a stop. “The accused then accelerated down Hope Street and failing to give way, he crossed Lynedoch Street and thereafter [made his way] towards Lyle Street. A procurator fiscal depute said police approached the accused and he was detained for a search. The procurator fiscal depute added: “The accused became emotional and extremely agitated and officers deemed it not suitable to formally charge the accused.
