Umami by 17Ngon on Argyle Street, which serves pan-Asian street food, is a Scottish finalist in the 2026 Asian Restaurant Awards. Ben said: “A lot of people would normally see Asian food as just a Chinese takeaway, and that's not the case whatsoever - just like Spanish, Italian, and English food are all completely different. Each dish fuses the authentic taste of Asian street food with modern twists to appeal to local tastes. Scotland's 10th annual Asian Food Awards ceremony, organised by the Asian Catering Federation, will be held in the Crowne Plaza in Glasgow on Monday, September 21. Mango, located just around the corner in Greenock's West Blackhall Street, and Saffron in Kilmacolm have also been shortlisted in this year's awards.
