Ahmedabad: Amid rising concerns over ragging in educational institutions, Gujarat has recorded 86 ragging complaints between 2022 and 2026, with 23 cases reported from medical colleges, accounting for more than 26 percent of the total cases reported in the state. According to the data, Gujarat recorded 105 ragging complaints between 2012 and 2022, while 86 complaints were reported in just the next four years, highlighting the continuing concern over ragging in the state. Kathwadia raised the issue following the alleged ragging-related suicide of a postgraduate medical student at Government Medical College (GMC), Surat. One case each was reported at Government Medical College, Bhavnagar; GMERS Medical College, Himmatnagar; GMERS Medical College, Gandhinagar; Government Dental College, Jamnagar; and Dental College, Visnagar.
