Three people have been charged after posing as a waste management company and fly-tipping across Fife. Large deposits of garden, household and building waste were discovered at addresses in Glenrothes, Inverkeithing, and Kirkcaldy last month. Investigations by community officers traced the waste back to individuals who had contacted customers via social media, posing as a certified waste management company. PC West from Glenrothes Community Team said: “These deposits cause a hazard to the public and cost Fife Council and others thousands of pounds to clear up. “ “We will continue to work with our partners including Fife Council and Scottish Environmental Protection Agency who can fine repeat offenders up to £40,000 for illegal waste deposits.”
