On my travels to Pangi*, I witnessed a unique blend of rugged Himalayan craftsmanship and divine symbolism. The stone art of the Valley and its neighboring regions represents an ancient tradition where functional utility meets ancestral worship. Integrated into rugged mountain backdrops, these domes serve as focal points for prayers and meditation. The thick stone masonry forms a natural insulation barrier. The local Bataihra (stone-carver) community carves self-reliant stone utilities like stone pots, traditional stoves, and heavy mortar and pestle sets.
