REDDITCH United had to settle for a point on the opening day of the new season following a 1-1 draw against newly-promoted Leighton Town. The Reds led through an own goal shortly before half time only for Sam King to draw the visitors level after the break at the Valley Stadium. United went close early on as Danny King saw his effort saved by the legs of Leighton goalkeeper Daniel Hosier. The Reds went close moments after the break as Dan Sweeney held off a defender and lashed a shot narrowly over the crossbar. Redditch are next in action against Stratford Town on Tuesday, August 11 with kick-off at 7.45pm at the Arden Garages Stadium.
