Scientists Stunned By Remarkably Complete Dome-Headed Dinosaur Fossil
[]
Indian Defence Review
A remarkable fossil has emerged from the sands of Mongolia’s Gobi Desert, shedding new light on the early evolution of pachycephalosaurs, the iconic dome-headed dinosaurs.
The Discovery Of Zavacephale RinpocheThe dinosaur, named Zavacephale rinpoche, represents the oldest known pachycephalosaur, dating back at least 108 million years.
This discovery pushes the fossil record of dome-headed dinosaurs back by approximately 14 million years.
“Everyone who has seen it is in awe.” The specimen is the most complete pachycephalosaur skeleton ever recovered, offering a rare glimpse into a largely elusive group of dinosaurs whose fossils are usually fragmentary.
Exceptional Preservation And Fossil QualityThe skeleton, though missing certain elements like parts of the neck and limbs, is extraordinarily well-preserved.
