Upgraded traffic lights at Welsh Row and Waterlode junction will introduce new technology – including recognising buses and heavy goods vehicles.
The works taking place since last week have caused major tailbacks and delays in every direction approaching the junction.
And many critics hit out at the use of temporary lights and the fact the junction’s lights were upgraded in 2016.
“Traffic signal technology has developed significantly since the junction was upgraded in 2016, and these improvements will allow the junction to operate more efficiently and respond better to traffic conditions.
The works started on Aug 3rd and are due to continue until August 21st, with four-way temporary lights in place on Waterlode, Welsh Row and High Street.
