Plans have been submitted for a massive 2,100-home estate in the open countryside across the road from Leighton Hospital on the outskirts of Crewe. Cheshire Fresh Ltd has applied for outline permission to build up to 2,100 homes, including 30% affordable, on land at Red Hall Farm off Middlewich Road. The majority of the 113-hectare site consists of arable farmland, which, the applicant says, is “predominantly subgrade 3b agricultural land”. “Furthermore, surrounding highway network that serves the site has already been the subject of significant updates through the North West Crewe package scheme.” The application, number 26/2711/OUT, can be viewed on the planning portal on Cheshire East Council’s website.
