Andrew Pitman, general manager of Monkton Elm Garden Centre, said the display took him six weeks and that the win is a victory for the whole team. The goal was to create a piece celebrating the evolution of Monkton Elm over the last nearly half-century and four staff members, himself included, who have recently celebrated 40 years of working there. "It’s a huge team effort; everybody who is involved in the show or in the garden centre here plays an integral role in it.” He said the two faces in the display are supposed to represent looking back and celebrating how far Monkton Elm has come and looking forward to the future. "There are two statues of faces, and one face is to symbolise looking back at the last 40 years, and the other is looking forward to the future of Monkton Elm."
