South Lakes police advised residents to be cautious after a "large python" was reported at around 9pm on August 6 in the area of Leighton Beck Road, Slack Head near Milnthorpe. It was then taken to Little Beasties in Ulverston where owner Mandy Christopher identified it as a royal python. Mandy has confirmed that the snake is an adult female, around three to four feet long and at least three years old. She said: "People hear python and think they're massive and able to eat dogs and cats but royal pythons are typically quite small, they're not these 20ft monsters. "With all the attention her finding got, I think someone who'd lost their snake and wanted it back would have reached out by now.
