The country was represented by members of its Greco-Roman wrestling national team at the traditional memorial tournament. Farid Sadikhli (55 kg), Farid Khalilov (67 kg), Gurban Gurbanov (87 kg) and Mezaim Mardanov (130 kg) won gold medals, while Ilkin Gurbanov (63 kg) secured bronze. Hasrat Jafarov finished third in the 67 kg Greco-Roman category, while Giorgi Meshvildishvili and Magomedkhan Magomedov won bronze in the 125 kg and 97 kg freestyle events, respectively. Azerbaijan has also hosted major wrestling competitions, including European and World Championships and youth events.
