A firefighting helicopter is expected to be operating from midday today. A spokesperson for SWFRS said: "South Wales Fire and Rescue Service (SWFRS) is responding to a wildfire in Cwmavon Woods, Blaenavon. "Crews remain at the scene, supported by specialist resources including aerial assistance from a firefighting helicopter, which is expected to be operating from midday today, with firefighting efforts focused on containing the fire and protecting nearby properties. "South Wales Fire and Rescue Service have called in a helicopter which is also working on woodland areas that are difficult to access. Crews spent days tackling a significant wildfire in Blaenavon last month and despite calls for a helicopter to be used then, it wasn't deployed.
