Platform helping people sell pre-owned goods changed Penarth woman's life

Martha Tomalin-Reeves, 20, first began selling items on Depop in 2018 while still a teenager, initially using the platform to clear out old clothes.
She later expanded into selling personalised jewellery and festival glitter, gaining experience of running a small business at a young age.
Now a student, Martha continues to sell unwanted items through Vinted to help support herself financially alongside her studies.
Martha uses Vinted both to sell clothes she no longer wears and to buy second-hand fashion herself.
Martha’s experience reflects a wider shift towards online marketplaces that make it easier for people to buy and sell pre-owned goods, while giving clothes a longer lifespan and reducing waste.
