Douglas Hay had applied to Fife Council for permission to carry out alterations and a conservatory extension to the building at 5 Main Street. A separate application to erect a polytunnel on garden grounds of the existing church hall has also been approved. Since the building’s use as a manse – a home for the minister – ceased in the early 1990s, it has been in frequent use as a church hall and meeting rooms. The new conservatory will provide a more open garden room in contrast to the otherwise enclosed rooms within the older building. “The changes are not intended to form the basis of any wider change in the character of the operation of the property as church meeting rooms.”
