(ABC 6 News)–The Albert Lea City Council has given the green light to design a new hangar.
The six-unit hangar was identified as a priority, as councilors think it will get filled shortly after its opening.
Monday’s approval was for $62,000 for designing the facility which could be built in 2027.
The estimated cost of the project is about $1.3 million with 90 percent coming from federal funding and the other 10 percent being split between the state and the city.
The leaders noted the amount they spend on the project would eventually be made up through the rental rates they offer for the use of the hangar.
