(ABC 6) — An early proposal to allow Experience Rochester to operate the Chateau Theatre downtown needs more work, according to some Rochester City Council members. At a study session, City Council President Randy Schubring said the presentation needs more specific details before they can request $6.2 million from Destination Medical Center to refurbish the facility. Experience Rochester President Joe Ward emphasized how the theatre could become a hub, inviting foot traffic downtown through local tourism. Members of the council seemed open to the Chateau restoration project, but they are looking for an updated proposal before accepting any plan. The city has until Dec. 31 to find a new operator and plan for the Chateau.
