Niall Gray, 36, pleaded guilty to the offence, which happened after he lowered his trousers and exposed himself on the A6091 road and on the journey between Galashiels and Edinburgh on May 22. He had been arrested after causing a disturbance at his home on Talisman Avenue by shouting, knocking on doors and breaking a bottle. Police had visited him after Gray breached a court undertaking by entering Tesco and stealing a quantity of alcohol earlier that day. The 10-month jail sentence was backdated to May 25, when Gray was first remanded in custody.
