Professional organisations, institutions, associations and trade unions in the cultural sector have called on the Czech government to withdraw its new state cultural policy for 2026–2030. In an open letter, dozens of groups criticised the way the document was prepared, saying the process was non-transparent and excluded the public. They are calling instead for the implementation of the State Cultural Policy 2026–2030+, which was approved by the previous government after lengthy preparation and consultation. The new policy has been published by the Czech Chamber of Commerce and is open to comments. Prime Minister Andrej Babiš said he would respond to the open letter, while Culture Minister Oto Klempíř defended the new policy last week.
