Kostadin Trendafilov, of Dunstall Road in Wolverhampton, was due to appear at Mold Magistrates Court on Monday for sentencing.
The 27-year-old had previously been convicted of failing to give information relating to the identification of the driver.
Prosecutor Brian Robinson told the court that the trigger offence for the matter had been an allegation of speeding on the A55 at Rhuallt Hill.
When the registered keeper was written to, they nominated Trendafilov, who was in turn written to by North Wales Police.
The court heard Trendafilov had written to the court following his conviction, however, explaining he had "been outside the country for seven months" and had received the correspondence belatedly.
