A Freedom of Information request sent to Westmorland and Furness Council uncovered that there were 16 incidents of pupils attacking school staff over the last two school years. Violent incidents fell year-on-year with 11 in the 2024-25 school year compared to five in the 2025-26 school year. The council said it takes violence against staff and pupils in schools ‘seriously’, adding it gives staff ‘opportunities’ related to trauma. We are very proud of our inclusive education system and the commitment of our hardworking school staff and school leaders. “It is important that all children and staff feel safe in our schools and we take violence against staff and pupils seriously.
