– Medicine Wheel Ride’s Seventh Annual Ride for Resiliency happened Sunday to bring awareness to Missing and Murdered Indigenous Relatives (MMIR). Darlene Gomez, one of the Medicine Wheel Ride members who traveled from Albuquerque, New Mexico, noted the importance of holding the ride during a massive event like the Sturgis Rally. ADVERTISEMENTThe Medicine Wheel Ride non-profit uses registration fees and donations to assist families in crisis year-round. Throughout the rest of the year, Medicine Wheel Ride helps families of missing and murdered Indigenous relatives get to trials, assists search and rescue teams, and puts up flyers, billboards, and posters of missing persons. While the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally is Medicine Wheel Ride's main event, they attend powwows and rides from Arizona to California to Alberta, Canada.
