Councillor Clive Davies said the statistics showed Cardigan had enjoyed ‘significant’ spin-off benefits from having the National Eisteddfod just a couple of miles south of the town in north Pembrokeshire. Geraint James, of Awen Teifi, was among the town traders who experienced a notable jump in custom. “The whole summer has been busy, but during the week of the Eisteddfod it’s been absolutely immense, and we’ve been working flat-out,” he said. “The flags and signs around the town are brilliant and have helped to create a great buzz in Cardigan.” “Of course, the Eisteddfod lasted only 10 days – but we’ve introduced Cardigan to visitors and hopefully opened the door to return visits in the months and years ahead.”
