The former Hawkshead Post Office and newsagent will become an extension of the Queen’s Head pub and restaurant now that permission has been granted by the Lake District National Park Authority. (Image: Google Maps)The building’s north elevation adjoins the non-listed former post office and newsagent, which has ancillary space above. The approved plans will see the ground floor of the former post office become part of the pub’s existing restaurant and trade area. The post office has been closed since 2012 and attempts to reinstate postal services have not succeeded. Work can now begin on the transformation of the former post office into an expanded dining area for the neighbouring pub.
