Just a few months after the conclusion of Outlander, Caitríona Balfe has lined up her next television project. Apple TV+ has ordered a series run of Ascension, a psychological thriller that will be executive produced and co-written by Alfonso Cuarón, the Oscar-winning director of Roma and Gravity. Balfe will play Rose, a documentary filmmaker and recently divorced mother who begins investigating a 20th-century religious group known as the Church of Ascension. Ascension is one of several projects Balfe has lined up, and she has a busy autumn ahead of her. She will also be in Tenzing, a biographical drama about Nepalese mountaineer Tenzing Norgay, out in October.
